JAMES ELSENER

Jim Elsener was born in Chicago but spent his early years and schooling in southern Michigan.  After one unsatisfactory year of college he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.

He served for four and a half years including a tour in Vietnam as a radio operator in an artillery unit.  Afterward he attended Western Michigan University and Columbia University of NY on the G.I. Bill.

He has been a publisher, editor, columnist, reporter, sales manager and association executive.

His first journalism job was with the famous City News Bureau of Chicago. That was followed by five years at the Chicago Tribune where he covered police, courts, politics, and business.  Jim later served as the CEO of a national newspaper trade association and founded a regional business newspaper in suburban Chicago.

He now lives in River Forest, Illinois.  “Reflections of Valour” is his second novel.  “The Last Road Trip” was published in 2018.
